Song 142
Hello everyone, the song I have for you today is Powerless (Acoustic) by Villain Of The Story. I have always felt like acoustic versions of songs, just hit different. This one was really beautiful! So without further introduction, let's get into it. There isn't an intro, it just jumps right in. First verse: "You wanna ask, why my heart has turned to ash. Even when the sun is shining bright, I'm cold as ice. You wanna know, how I ended up alone. Emptiness and shattered trust, left me buried in the dust." There's nothing like raw emotional lyrics, they speak to your soul. Pre-chorus: "I'd rather be numb, than deal with the pain. I'd rather be done, than have to live this way." So moving. The chorus: "Pull me up, pull me out of this. I am broken, I feel powerless. I've had enough, I'm crying out. For something or someone, to give me a reason to live." There's so much he's going through, and you can feel all the suffering in these little lines. Second verse: "Am I a ghost? Lost everything I loved the most, built myself so high up off the ground. Now I'm falling down, I'm in the dark. And I can't see, it feels like I forgot how to breathe. It's been so long, since I've felt strong. Should I give up? Is all hope inside me gone?" I wanna give this person a hug, I know what he's feeling. I think everyone has felt like this before. The bridge: "I am trying to hold on, but I am slipping. Please lift me up, I am searching for anyone. To pull me out of this tragic misery." I think I've already said, what needed to be said. So let's continue on. There is an outro for this song, so incoming! "Give me a sign that you can hear me, calling out for you. Can you hear me? Can you hear me? Calling out for you." Such a bitter sweet way to end this painfully beautiful song. When you're angry listen to the original version of this, but when you're feeling down and hopeless listen to this version. You'll get a lot out of it, both ways. Music has helped me connect to my feelings better, it puts them into perspective. So if you're like me and sometimes struggle with expressing how you feel, I recommend a good song. And this is one of them.
Okay, that wraps up this review. (I know I didn't really comment on the instrumental part) but I wanted to focus on the lyrics for this one :) See you next time!
I think acoustic is an amazing way to hear any song. This is just another example of a song that can be uplifting when your down and it is always good to know others may be going thru similar issues, makes you think you ate not alone. Another amazing review, absolutely love reading them.
