song 247

 Song 247

Hello my fellow music lovers! Happy July! Happy Disability Pride Month! And Welcome back to the blog! Today's song I'm reviewing is Lost It All by Black Veil Brides. I've been meaning to review this song, just haven't gotten around to it yet. But today is the day! I really like this song, for the deep meaning, the vocal range, and the way it's set up. So let's get into it!

Starting with the intro, we have this really soothing piano melody. It sounds so lovely, and also a little somber as well. This brings us into the first verse: "I ruled the world. With these hands, I shook the heavens to the ground. I laid the gods to rest. I held the key to the kingdom, lions guarding castle walls. Hail the king of death." This song is a slower one, in terms of melody and tone. But I really love that about it, because the song is about going from having it all to having nothing. That's a really heavy topic, and they have showcased that so well here. Even Andy's voice is deeper on this part, and he has a deep voice to begin with. Then we have the chorus: "Then I lost it all, dead and broken. My back's against the wall, cut me open. I'm just trying to breathe, just trying to figure it out. Because I built these walls to watch them crumbling down. I said, then I lost it all. And who can save me now?" Wondering if there's a bright side to this situtation, and if he'll ever be able to get out from under the feeling of losing everything. There's a small instrumental here, and we have drums added to the piano. Then the second verse: "I stood above. Another war, another jewel upon the crown. I was the fear of man. But I was blind, I couldn't see the world right in front of me. But now I can, yeah." Here he's talking about how, even something as devastating as losing everything, can open up your eyes, and show you what really matters. Then the chorus repeats, there's a little instrumental part, this time with violin music. This is also there the backing vocals come in, that's curtesy of Lilith, Andy's wife. This is followed by the bridge and the outro. "I believe that we all fall down sometimes. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Can't you see, that we all fall down sometime?" This part repeats a few times. It sounds really cool though, with all voices coming together, and the blend of instruments. Then the last line is just "I believe that we all fall down sometimes, yeah." With a little fade out. This last part of the song is so true, because we all fall down. But how you get back up is what's important. I also feel like, this is showing that it's okay to fall, it's okay to make mistakes, because everyone does. The important thing is that you learn and grow from those experiences. I really love the messages in this song, and how well thought it is. Songwriting done right.

That's it for this review, thank you all for joining me. And I will see you in the next one! Happy listening! Stay cool out there! RAWR XD <3
