Song 138
Hello everybody, today I have a song that totally describes the state of the world right now. Specifically the people. It's called People Are Vomit by The Used. (I know I write about these guys a lot) First off, I want to talk about the cover art on this song. It is amazing! It has this really pretty teal, purple, and white colour scheme going on. And there's a picture of a skeleton, with roses shooting out of its mouth. Very aesthetically pleasing. Getting into the song itself, we start with an intro. It's one of those heavy sounding intros, the ones that make you wanna stomp your feet, and nod your head to the beat/base. There's also a little scream of the word no. There seems to be no first verse, it immediately goes into the pre-chorus. So let's go there now: "I don't wanna live in this American wasteland. United, we fall, and divided where we stand. Crowds of people fall to their knees, pledging allegiance to this disease. Violence is sometimes necessary. Dying in our sleep from the American dream." Sound familiar? Moving on to the chorus: "This future's f******* before it got started (before it got started) Is this what you wanted? (Is this what you wanted?) Is this what you need?" There's two parts to this chorus, which is why I decided to space them out. Here's the second part: "Ayy, ayy, whoa, oh, oh. This world's disgusting, people are vomit. (people are vomit) Is this what you wanted? (This what you wanted?) Is this what you need? Ayy, ayy, whoa oh oh." I feel like this was a pretty interesting take on the world, and yeah sometimes people suck. I think that captured that pretty well here. Not all people though, and not all the time. I mostly just like the edginess of this song. Moving on, there seems to be some form of verse in this next part, so here we go. "I can show you fear, in a handful of dust now. Tell me to pick a side, but I'm not sure I know how." It definately is the case where people are divided, but I hope this song can bring them together. The bridge: "I pledge allegiance to myself, pledge allegiance no one else. I pledge allegiance to myself, pledge allegiance to no one else." No comment here, I think this speaks for itself. The song ends with just one word, being screamed into existence. And that's the simple question of "Why?" I'd like to know too dude.
That sums up this review, I will see you next time :)
