Song 69
Hello! Today's song is Creatures by LostAlone! Let's get right into it! Now I have never heard of this band before, so completely new to me. There isn't much of an intro with this song, it just jumps right into verse one: "I'm just happy that it's over, this is what it's like when it's all done and over." Actually the way this song is laid out, the structure is kind of all over the place. It's almost like there's no separate sections of the song, it's all one big track. Very unique, I don't think I've seen a song with this type of layout before! The melody and everything is still there though, at the beginning we have drums going at a steady pace. Along with some really nice vocals by one of the band members. I really like their sound! Then we are hit with the backing vocals, adding more depth to the song. So since there really isn't separate sections for me to analyze, I guess I'll have to pick some lyrics and go from there. Picking up back at the first lyrics I wrote here, this is more of that. "I clothed myself in the sentiment of trust, I was losing I was out of control. I'm just happy that it's over." That's mostly the lyrics throughout the song. I think it's about a relationship that was better off ending, at least that's what I'm getting from this. One part of the lyrics that I find very deep, is "And the creature you are is all that you own." I think that means you are what you are. Or the fact that you own your demons. Either way very deep and something to think about. "I'm still breathing without reason, in time I will recover feeling." I really like that, even though something is over doesn't mean it's gone. We all heal in time, I can definitely relate to this part of the song. More instruments are added into the track, as the "chorus" hits because like I said everything is kind of pushed together. I can hear the guitar in there. Yeah all I can hear is guitar and drums. Again there's not much of an outro either, because of how close together the aspects are. But it ends with "I'm just happy that it's over." I always feel like songs that end with last lyrics like this, opens a world of interpretation for the listener. I imagine on the last lyrics, the singer hangs their head and remembers what he had. Or now what he had lost. And maybe there's like rain coming down or something. A solid ten out of ten song for me, not just for the meaningful lyrics but for the uniqueness of it as well.
I hope you consider checking this little number out, it is so worth the listen! See you next time :)
