Song 70
Hello everyone! Well here I am at 70 reviews! :) Let's get into it shall we? The song I've chosen to review/analyze today is Down Below by Creeper! I can't believe I never reviewed this song before, but better late than never. This song doesn't really have an intro, it jumps right into verse 1: "I once saw a girl who had a heart so blue, and she smoked and drank about as much as you. And I was hoping baby, we'd get out soon. While the night's still young under this waning moon." (little side note: Creeper is another UK based band :) So far not really sure what this song is about, other than he met a girl who seemed to be heart broken. Next we have the pre-chorus: "When I can't think about the way we once were, I can think about his fingers running through your hair. What goes on in my room when I'm not there?" ok, now we have a little bit more of the story. It seems like the girl moved on with someone that wasn't him, and now he doesn't want to think about someone else having her. Then we have the chorus: "Down below, I'll meet you in the river down below." Now there's a new twist in the story, but I'll leave the down below part up for interpretation. Because that could mean so many different things. Ok, verse 2: "I once saw a girl who looked a lot like you, hair was storm-cloud black, her eyes were rain drop blue. And all I wanted baby, is to hold you. Before the stranger comes under this waning moon." ok, this part to me sounds very romantic, there's just something about moonlight that does it for me. Then the chorus repeats, but there's more to it this time: "Cause down below, he'll meet you in the river down below. Down below, he'll meet you in the river down below. Oh, let me take you down." Next is the bridge: "And he'll come to see you in the window of your home, to take you to the river down below. When he'll come to see you, in the window of your home. To take you to the river down below." Then it repeats a second time. This is a very cool bridge, because the melody slows down to almost a spooky sounding vibe. Along with the vocals going to a loud whisper on one part. The instruments on this track is mostly guitar and drums, I don't think I hear others. But very catchy melody, I especially love the way it's put together. I like their sound, kind of sounds like someone else but I can't think of who. I just know it sounds familiar. Oh wait, just before the bridge there's a little bit of piano. Then to wrap it up, the chorus repeats one final time, and the last note at the end with the singing is really good. But there really isn't much of an instrumental outro.
Please check out this song, and other stuff from Creeper I think their really cool, and sound good! :) I will see you in the next one, bye!
