Song 68

 Song 68

Hello my fellow music nerds! Welcome back to the blog, I hope you all had a wonderful Pride Month! And happy disability pride month to everyone! I can't believe I'm almost at 70 reviews, at the this rate I might make it to 100 by the end of the year! I did make a review for song 67, but I realized that it was too personal to post and took it down. So for this song, I'm not gonna make it so personal. The song I have for you today is DarkSide by Bring Me The Horizon! This is my first BMTH song review, I never really listened to them before. But this song and another one I actually liked, so here we go! Starting off with the intro, it sounds like a lot of the newer songs that have that electric pop sound. But still really cool. Then we have verse 1: "Sinking under, think my angel's fallen. Safe place, plundered. B******** kicked the doors in, picked the stitches and now I can't stop bleeding. Three in the morning, I haven't slept all weekend. Six feet in the dirt, and the dead's still breathing. Don't give a F**** if my heart stops beating." There's some deep stuff in that first verse, I can feel the anguish. Next we move on to the chorus, (no pre-chorus in this one) "Hey, I'm begging you to stay, my darkside won today. My heart keeps breaking, over and over. Hey, don't let me out your sight. Can't trust myself tonight, my heart keeps breaking, can you talk me off the ledge again?" With the chorus, we really get more of sense of what this song is about. The title Darkside, meaning that he's at a dark point in his life. All of this is paired together really nicely with the melody. It has this kind of spooky element to it, while also still having the sick as heck rock element. That ties it together so well. Next is verse 2: "Something haunts me, footsteps in the basement. Out of body, but there's so escaping." (I just realized that this song does have a pre-chorus, my bad) The second verse is talking about, the bad thoughts in his head. At least that's how I see it, they're trying to convince him to end it all. This is actually a pretty sad and dark song, but I also see the beauty in it as well. There's also some really freaking awesome screaming on this track, always appreciate that. Then we have the bridge: "Something's in the way, don't know what I can say. Memories are haunting me, a sickness taking over. So bury me alive, there's nowhere left to hide, and say goodbye. Cause maybe I, maybe I will miss me when I'm gone." That's actually heartbreaking :( the pain in these lyrics, is just so raw. There isn't really an outro on this track, at the end part of the chorus repeats three times, then ends with "Can you talk me off the ledge again?" Which is a way for the listener, to interpret what might have happened to the person in the story.

And that wraps this review up! :) see you in the next one!
