Song 210
Hello, hello! Welcome back to the blog! Today I will be reviewing America by Motionless in White! It's actually an underrated song, I can't believe I have been sleeping on this song. So here we go!
Staring with the intro, we have this dark/spooky sounding tune. It really sets the mood, especially for the music video that goes along with this song. Then we go into this heavier beat, a beautiful blend of guitar and drums. Bringing us into the first verse: "We take medication to be someone else, and we take off our clothes to pay for the bills. Where downloading content will buy you a sentence, but murder is free in the Hollywood Hills." Interesting take on modern events, even though this song came out in 2012 it's still pretty relevant in today's issues. Also Chris's voice in his deeper register is awesome! The chorus: "I'm living one big nightmare, the ugly truth has a model face. Making saints out of useless pop stars, where's the intelligence? A-M-E-R-I-C-A home of the free, the sick and depraved. A-M-E-R-I-C-A so why the f*** are you looking at me?" OMG this whole chorus is just chef's kiss, it's perfect! The arrangement, the vocals, the melody. So good! The screaming hits really good too. Also the useless pop stars line is wild in the best way, now don't get me wrong not all pop songs are bad. But it just seems like, the cookies cutter pop stars are all the same. I love me some profound, meaningful lyrics, but I also don't mind a good dance jam now and then. The second verse: "Oil prices are so high we can't feed ourselves, so we buy in to fast food and occupy the will. We upload our status and beg for attention, while they're all eating cake up on Capitol Hill." This pretty much sums up the authority/government. In both countries, I live in Canada and the government is just as bad here. The chorus repeats again, but there's some different lyrics this time "Still living one big nightmare, God save the human race. Handing convicts fame in HD, glorified ignorance." Preach! Such a statement song! I love it! There is a little bit of a bridge, it has the second half of the chorus in a loud whisper. Then we're hit with this awesome guitar solo! Of course backed up by the drums. Then the chorus repeats again. Followed by an outro, which has the same dark/spooky vibe as the intro. Such a good song! I highly recommend you check it out!
That is it for this review, I will see you all in the next one! :)
