Song 183
Hey everyone! Before I begin today's song, I wanted to share something with all of you. I recently found out, that I'm Asexual and also Heteromantic that just means I'm romantically attracted to guys. I'm sure you have questions, and stereotypes around this orientation. But I want you all to know, I did research, took a bunch of quizzes. And came to the realization that I'm just not that into sex. Plus it's actually common for Autistic people to be Asexual. (It feels good to say that) Okay, on to the song. It's called Prey For The Night by Creeper. Which as you all know is one of my favourite bands, and they just released the music video for this song. I like the artistry behind it, but not so much the sexual theme. Which is fine. The song in general is actually is kind of sexual in nature, which I don't mind. I know what you're probably thinking. "If you're Ace, how can you listen to songs like this?" (Ace is short for Asexual) Just because I'm Ace, doesn't mean I can't appreciate good music. Also the lyrics aren't all sexual, it's just the theme is kind of like that. Now let's get into it!
The intro is bass and drum heavy. But really cool spooky vibes. Bringing us into the first verse: "Been waiting for a girl like you. Pale porcelain skin oh so cold, cold. A ghost girl under a blood moon, she dominates and she takes complete control, control." So not inherently sexual, this could mean anything really, if you want to get literal with it, you could see it as a ghost or supernatural being coming to earth, and wanting to possess people. That's how I see it. The pre-chorus: "I dream about the way her skin felt dripping every night, she dreams of death and demands a human sacrifice, my sacrifice." I take this literally, meaning she probably is some otherworldly being. Who came to earth for this ritual. The chorus: "I'm cast out of heaven, and I'm praying for a night with you. Your body's a temple, and I'm praying for a night with you. I'm cast out of heaven, and I'm praying for a night with you. Your body's a temple, and I'm praying for a night with you." Yeah, this part could mean what everyone is thinking right now. (I know you are lol) But for me, I see this as meaning that he just wants to spend the night with her, doing other stuff. For example listening to this incredible song. Also the melody on this part is so catchy, and very inspired by 80s rock. The second verse: "Some boys want to be consumed, bled dry, thrown into the fires below, below. Some just want to be abused, some serve at the altar and her throne, her throne." No comment on this part. The pre-chorus and the chorus repeat. Then it's the bridge: "The moon eats the sun, the night swallows day. An evil is hunting, and you are its prey." There you see, perfect example of what I said about the entity thing. Lol. Also Will's vocals are just so good. (And he's really pretty) Can we normalize that? Calling guys pretty? Because some guys are just so aesthetically attractive, everyone is pretty in their own way of course, but I feel like guys can be called pretty too. Back to the song. After the bridge, the chorus repeats three more times. With no outro. But still a masterpiece! Their new album where this song is off of, comes out Halloween! Mistress of Death don't miss it! I feel like it's gonna be a great album, the three singles they released so far have been so good! Really looking forward to it!
That is is for this review, I will see you all in the next one! Happy listening! :)
