Song 182
Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog! Happy October! Love this month, for so many reasons! Thanksgiving (I'm in Canada so we have thanksgiving in October) My birthday is this month, and of course Halloween! Also one of my fav bands releases an album on Halloween, which is epic! So for today's song we have Rivers by First and Forever! They are a fairly new band, and I would say their genre is pop punk. Which you all know I'm a sucker for. So let's get into it!
Starting with the intro, we have kind if a similar sound to some earlier pop punk bands. It almost sounds like Taking Back Sunday, with this intro. But it's very nice, slow, almost romantic tone to it. Just very mystical, and soothing to the ear. Bringing us into the first verse, where the melody picks up. "Laid to rest by what I lost, like breathing lungs and a beating heart. And nothing can save us now. Memories washed away by tears, let it all go, right now, right here. Cause nothing can save us now." This is obviously about a love let go. Which is very relatable. Then we have he chorus, which I love! It's so catchy and meaningful. But just before the chorus, there's this wave of fast paced drum beats. It sounds like heaven to me! Here's the chorus: "With eyes like rivers, you haunt me. I lie in the grave where you lost me, cry out from the depths. Where no one can find me, eyes like rivers you haunt me." Such a beautiful, dark, deep, hurt set to music. I am obsessed! Second verse: "Hold me close until I've lost, these failing lungs, this bleeding heart. Cause nothing can save us now, clarity torn away by fear. Never let go, not now, not here. Cause nothing can save us now." I know there's no coming back from what we had, which in a lot of ways I'm fine with. But the fact that some things won't be the same, it's hard. Then I remember, the good parts and what we still hold on to. That's what matters now. Because I'm over the heartbreak now. The chorus then repeats, followed by the bridge, which is just the first verse being repeated. Along with a melody shift, a small one but it's there. There is also a small screaming part, which is nice. After that, the chorus repeats again. With an outro of "Yeah, you haunt me." I really love this track, no music video unfortunately. But, then you can make one up in your head. Or do what I do, and pretend you're in one. (Trust me it's fun lol) highly recommend this song, you should check it out.
Thank you, for reading. I hope you have a great day! Happy listening! :)
