Song 175
Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog! I have another song from Hot Milk for you today, it's called Candy Coated Lies, and it's the first song I heard by them! So let's get into it!
Starting off with the intro, it sounds similar to a BMTH song. It has that heavy electronic vibe that new BMTH has brought recently. Very fun to listen to, and a very good set up. The first verse: "Just about done living this life, look at my face when you're talking to me, talking to me. Brought a blunt knife to a gun fight, words and phrases lock me in cages. I'm taking my time if it's alright. Hold the world up, but it's weighing on me, weighing on me. Watch it all fall from a great height, all these rats that are running races." I love the vocals on this song, because of how they break up the songs with the two of them. They sound really good together. The pre-chorus: "Stay away, you push me to the edge. I need a tidal wave to drown out all the pain in me." I also love the song writing on this one, the lyrics are really deep. The chorus: "Just about to break, I can't stand the taste of. Candy coated lies, these candy coated lies. Every day the same, driving me insane. Candy coated lies, these candy coated lies." The chorus is so fun, and catchy. It's become one of my stim songs, which is a positive. :) Next is the second verse: "You're killing my vibe for the last time, vultures up high started preying on me, preying on me. Take a step back to the broadside. Cause I'm not as brave as I'm letting on to be, losing my breath but I'm alive. Should have spent more time fighting for me, fighting for me. Making my way to the bright side, is there paradise?" I don't really have anything to say about this part, other than the harmonies they are awesome! Then the chorus repeats, bringing us to the bridge: "Talons digging deep down inside of me, holding this absentee, guilty and desperately." I like how the bridge is arranged here, I feel like this would sound really great live. The chorus repeats again, with a slight change in tone. Then goes on to repeat a few more times. I feel like sometimes we do have this deep seated feeling weighing on us, but the important thing to remember is not to let it keep you from living. There's no outro, the song just ends after the last repeat of the song.
That's a wrap on this review, I hope you all have a good day. And I will see you in the next one, happy listening! :)
