song 144

 Song 144

Hello, everyone welcome back to the blog! Today I have another Fall Out Boy song to review. It's called, The (Shipped) Gold Standard. Interesting title, I know. But that's FOB for you, at least it's not as long as some of their song titles. Let's get into this review! The intro is really nice, has some light strumming. Then it moves in with this, I can only describe it as a foot tapping beat. Leading us nicely into the first verse: "Sometimes I wanna quit this all and become an accountant now. But I'm no good at math and besides, the dollar is down. Plant palm trees on Lake Michigan before it gets cold, I gotta feel the wind chill again before I get old." The math part is so relatable, I have dyscalculia so math has always been a struggle for me. It still it sometimes. I also love the vocals on this part very smooth. The pre-chorus: "I wanna scream I love you from the top of my lungs, but I'm afraid that someone else will hear me." The first part of this, is something I really wanna do. Like you all know I'm in love with someone, and sometimes I just want the whole world to know. Next is the chorus: "You can only blame your problems on the world for so long, before it all becomes the same old song. As soon as we hit the hospital, I know we're gonna leave this town. And get new passports, and get, get, get, get, get out now." Honestly those are some good words to live by. "You can only blame your problems on the world for so long, before it all becomes the same old song." It's true, you can only blame other stuff for so long, before it becomes tiring. Second verse: "All the yes-men said no comment, my mouth got going. The wrong way, and all the calls started snowing. The time my dad caught me a horseshoe crab, and I asked him if throwing it back into the sea would bring our luck back." I'm not really sure what this part means, but I like it. The bridge: "Tell that boy I'll leave you alone, now. Like a stove I'll turn my love down, Supra and the prophet are both in the business of souls." Oh, ok I think I get it now. But I'll let you all interpret this as you will. The the chorus repeats for a final time. This is a easy listening song. Then with the little outro that there is, it's just the slow strum of the guitar.

That's it for this review, thank you for reading this. I'll see you in the next one! :)
