Hello my fellow music lovers! Welcome back to the blog! :) And Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! :) Today's song is Ghost Inside My Head by Vampires Everywhere! I've tried to listen to them before, and only focused on their older stuff. Well, some of it is good. But I like this song off their 2016 album. It's very cool, I also like the band's style. They look insane in the best way! So let's get into it!
The intro to this song is actually the first verse, which is an interesting take on song structure. It also starts off slow. "Here lies the truth, I know just what to tell you. I won't be hurt again, by this ghost inside my head. And now you see, just what you did to me. Won't erase the pain, it all remains the same." You can feel the emotion coming from Michael's vocals. It's so raw! The verse then continues, with a faster paced beat. "You tied my hands behind my back, hoping you would bury me. Get the best of me, your lies fell behind the cracks. Hoping I would never see, and all this time you played my sympathies." Love the song writing here, it's amazing! I don't know the theme of this song just yet, but I think once the chorus hits I'll get it. Before I do the chorus, I would like to drop a little fact. The lead singer of this band Michael Vampyre was actually on a track with Motionless In White, he was on their song A.M.E.R.I.C.A. Only I didn't really get to hear his clean vocals on that one. He has such a nice singing voice in addition to his screaming. Now on to the chorus: "Woah oh, oh oh, oh oh. You are the ghost inside my head, and I bet it's lonely there. These wounds won't heal again (wounds won't heal again) Until it comes to an end, you are the ghost inside my head. And I bet it's lonely there, these wounds won't heal again. (wounds won't heal again) You are the ghost inside my head." Love the melody of the chorus, it's very satisfying and very catchy. I think he's saying how someone, hurt him, and now the thoughts of them haunt his mind, like a ghost. The lonely part, possibly means that the person is all he's thinking about. So there isn't much else he's thinking about currently. The second verse: "You tried to whisper sweet revenge, hoping you would let me go. Just le me go. I can't believe, I never knew. All the lies you put me through, my bullet holes are visible to you." This is implying that the scars, that were left from what the person has done, are laid bare. It's a really interesting way to describe that. The chorus repeats, and then we have the bridge: "You sewed my eyes with your thread of lies, then you lead me behind. You sewed my eyes with your thread of lies, I won't be hurt this time." In other words, he's not giving them anymore time. The chorus repeats a final time, with the outro having the same words are the bridge, and then ending with a nice slow fade out. There's also screaming vocals at the end. I love how soothing the fade out is. There's no music video for this song unfortunately. I wish there was, the story would make such a great video. But it's still an amazing song.
