Song 205
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! Before I get into today's song, I have something I want to share. I'M IN LOVE!!!!! Ahhhh!!! And yes it's my crush!!! I just gahh!! I don't even have words! I'm really happy about it! Okay, on with today's review now lol
The song I have for you today is What I Should Have Learned In Study Hall, by Ice Nine Kills! It's a really beautiful song, So I hope you check it out! It's a bit different from what they are usually known for, but that's one of the reasons why I like it! So let's get into it!
Starting with the intro, we have this really smooth and nice acoustic strumming happening. (I really wish I was better at picking up chords) It sounds so pretty, setting the tone for a song about lost love. This lovely intro, brings us to the first verse: "Well, I waited till you packed your bags. I took a picture and hoped it would last with you. All the way through all the nights you and I couldn't have. Now I know that it shouldn't be this hard, but you've moved yourself so damn far. And I won't suffice when there's two-thousand miles to drive." :( This is about a love that moved away, how sad. There's a little bit of a pre-chorus: "I'm thinking it over, I'm thinking about all the days and nights we would spend laughing." Dude, this is so sad. But I also really like it lol. The chorus: "Are you happy in Colorado with the mountains, did you like them? Did you find what you're looking for? (Find what you're looking for) Because I'm still searching, for the life we were living before." :( My heart hurts! This one really plays with your emotions. Also there's something very distinct about Ice Nine Kills and Spencer Charnas's voice. Like you automatically know it's him, when he sings. I like that. The second verse: "You seem so young and so full of life, while I'm getting older with each hopeless night. You're still on my mind, are we through this time? Well angels should ask you what you're doing with me, I'm an apple who slipped too far from the tree. But I'm burning to rot away silently, as you grow into something more promising. And now we've got these God***** words that mean nothing, when I can't see your face or have your body for touching. And everything I eat, it tastes like you. So what're you trying to prove?" This part here, he's saying how. She's moved on, and thriving. While he still feels like his heart's been ripped out, and I totally get that. The chorus then repeats, with an extra part "And if I dropped everything and booked a flight, from Logan to Denver then my plane would crash that night. Cause the odds are against us, so all bets are off. Just know you've meant more than I ever could want." Oh my heart! This is so romantically tragic. The bridge: "I'm giving up, please just give me one more time. If just for one more night, then I'll be happy to walk away. You could put on that dress you know I love, Taking your time zipping it up, you always knew what I liked. They base movies off our lust, but somehow they wouldn't suffice. Take your time, you got moves, and you use them. (take your time) And I got pictures to prove them, every night I lie awake. (take your time), I think of everything I wish I said. She's burning every note, I ever sent." Believe me, I know how hard letting go can be. But In the long run, it's better for you in so many ways. It just takes time. Then the song ends on this last line: "Just know that you meant more to me, than I ever could want." So flipping romantic. The vocals on this are also so good! They're full of emotion, and have a nice fluidity to them.
That's it for this review, I really hope you consider checking it out! And I will see you in the next one! :) RAWR :p <3
