Song 118

 Song 118

Hello! Today on the blog, I have a staple song for the emo/hardcore/pop punk/metalcore and everything else between. It's MakeDamnSure by Taking Back Sunday! I have avoided this song for a long time, because the chorus never really made sense to me. But it's actually a really good song, it doesn't really have an intro. So let's just get into the first verse: "You've got this new head filled up with smoke, and I got my veins all tangled close. To the jukebox bars you frequent, the safest place to hide. A long night spent with your most obvious weakness, you start shaking at the thought. You are everything I want, cause you are everything I'm not." I like that last line, I think it's sweet. Next is the pre-chorus, and I am obsessed with this pre-chorus, it's amazing! "And we lay, we lay together. Just not too close, too close. (how close is close enough?) And we lay, we lay together. Just not too close, too close." The melody on this, is just so catchy! I love it so much, and sing it a lot. Next is the chorus: "I just wanna break you down so badly. Well, I trip over everything you say. I just wanna break you down so badly, in the worst way." This chorus is confusing to me, because I don't really know what they mean by this. But I still like it. Next is the second verse: "Well, my inarticulate store bought hangover hobby kit, it talks. And it says, you, oh, you are so cool. Scissor shaped across the bed, you are red, violent red. You hollow out my hungry eyes, you hollow out my hungry eyes." Gonna just leave this alone, and jump into the bridge: "I'm gonna make damn sure, that you can't ever leave. No, you won't ever get too far from me. You won't ever get too far from me. I'll make damn sure, that you can't ever leave. No, you won't ever get too far from me. You won't get too far from me. You won't ever get too far from me (ever get too far) You won't ever get too far." Now this part here, kind of sounds like a hostage situation. Like "I'm gonna lock you up in my basement." Kind of thing. Just like in this Famous Last Words song I like. That was a hostage situation too, as well as a "if I can't have you, no one can" thing. Maybe that's what's happening here. Well it was an honor to review such a classic song from this genre, I hope you all check it out if you haven't yet.

Until next time, happy listening :)
