song 235

 Song 235

Hello my fellow music lovers! Happy May! Welcome back to the blog! :) Today's song is Half Black Heart by New Years Day. I've really gotten into this band, and I have found a handful of songs I love by them! This one in particular really had my attention, I love how it's arranged, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you! So lets' get into it!

Starting with the intro, we have this raw bass line going. Which is quickly followed up by the drums, a really great way to start this song off. It hooks the listeners attention right off the bat, and has this heavy sound. This leads us into the first verse: "Who died and made you king? Who crowned you anything? Even gods rise and fall when they think they know it all, it's easy to throw stones, from high up on your thrones. Who are you to tell me what to be? When you can't see all of me?" I think she's talking about how, even people in power aren't as high and mighty as they claim to be. And yes, no one should tell you what you can and can't be. Only you can do that. The chorus: "I am the villain, I'm the hero. My horns hold up my halo, there's light inside the dark, of this half black heart. I feel alive in all the sadness, feel pretty when I'm savage. There's beauty in the scars of this half black heart." This part here, is talking about how. We're all capable of good and evil, but it's about what we do with both sides. There is beauty in the scars, whether emotional or physical. I have always thought scars are beautiful, because they show what a person has been through, and how strong they are. Emotional scars, might be a little harder to see. But when that person trusts you to talk about them, that's also a very beautiful thing. The second verse: "Hang me on a cross of hate, nail me to my mistakes. No one is without sin in this hell we're living in, why can't you let me be who I am? I never claimed that I was perfect." Nobody is perfect, it's just a fact. We're all human, and we make mistakes. As long as we learn from them, and growm from them. That's what matters. And sometimes, the things we might not like about ourselves, other people find amazing. That statement "Why can't you let me be who I am?" That's really powerful, everyone should feel free enough to be themselves. The chorus repeats, then we have the bridge: "I am pleasure, I am pain. I'm the peasant and the queen. Not all good, not all bad. So take me as I am." Absolutely, if you can't take me for who I am, then walk the other way. The chorus repeats a final time, and the outro has that heavy deep sound, like it did with the intro. Only more prominent. I love the vocals on this track as well, Ash has an amazing voice. This is just a well thought out song, with some deep lyrics, and very nicely arranged instrumentals. Also the melody is so fun!

I hope you consider chekcing out this song, and I will see you in the next one! Happy Listening! :) RAWR XD <3
