song 113

 Song 113

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog. Today's song, is one I would call a musical masterpiece. It's called Ever After by Marianas Trench, which is also the name of the album it's on. I just feel like this song, deserves to have a really good review. Here we go! The intro is the band's collective voices, singing in the background with light music. Slowly bringing us into the first part of the song: "Once upon a time, I used to romanticize. Used to be somebody, never mind. Don't miss it that much now. I think it's sinking in, days that I wonder where I've been. In picture perfect porcelain, but I won't lose a pond." Moving right along to the next part of the song: "You say I would make a better liar, I never face the music when it's dire. And I breathe disaster, ever after. Don't pull away from me now. Don't you move, can't you stay where you are, just for now? I could be your perfect disaster, you could be my ever after. You could be my ever after, after all. I could be your perfect disaster, you could be my ever after." I have often felt like I'm a disaster, and I'm such a mess. But I like this part because of the vocals, and the emotion in that's brough in. Next part: "Apologies, I'm not myself but I can guarantee. That when I get back, you won't believe. That you know me well. Don't wanna think about it, I'm f***** tired of getting sick about it. Now stand back up and be a man about it. And fight for something, fight for something, fight for something." Having something to fight for, can really make your whole world view change. Also that part of not being yourself, I get that. I've been going through stuff mentally, that makes me feel like I'm not myself. But I'm trying. Next part: "Nobody told ya this is gonna fold ya, we go marching in like toy soldiers. To have and hold ya, oversold ya. They're marching like toy soldiers." That part there, is slowly drawn out with the vocals. This song has a lot of key changes, and dynamic changes. I like when songs are made up like this, it keeps things interesting. Next: "Somehow don't you dare fail, fail me now, ever after. Somehow don't you dare fail, fail me now, ever after. Somehow (face the music when it's dire) (Face the music when it's dire) Somehow don't you dare fail, fail me now, ever after somehow!" I think here, he's talking about not having that person that gives him the strength to keep going. I get that. Last part: "Once upon a time, this place was beautiful and mine. But now it's just a bottom line, barely comes to mind. But ever after was mine, ever after. I'll be your disaster, ever after. So fire away, goodbye." That last part has a great scream, and leads us into the next part of the album. It's a really great opening track.

See you in the next one
