song 151

 Song 151

Hello everyone! It seems like everyone is releasing new music this month, which is awesome! Today I'm reviewing a new song by a band I like it's called Rotten Apple by Fall To Pieces! They are a fairly new band, and I think they are awesome! So let's get into it! The intro is very dark and slow, I love that. It has this sad, but mysterious vibe to it. The first verse: "You attack me at my lowest, disregard me on my highs. Once co-parents now opponents, but in this game the child cries. You've stripped them of their innocence, placed them back in the devil's hands. You're filled with hate and ignorance, a bitter soul with high demands." Such incredible lyric work. The pre-chorus: "Go ahead and deflect, let your family reject. All the truth hidden in the lies, a real parent protects. Not forgive and forgets, when their child's life's compromised." Such haunting lyrics, it's honestly so sad that there is parents like this out there in the world. The chorus: "Take one look at your reflection, you're just like them. Filled with lies and imperfections you're just like them. Don't fight the fact your roots are cursed, and your leave's have their disease. You're a rotten apple, used as the example. For your dead family tree." They scream on that last part. I love how they used the wording on this track, like to talk about such a difficult topic. Then bring in this whole, thing about a family member being rotten on the family tree, that's incredible! Moving on to the second verse: "Don't forget all the times I helped you, when I had nothing I could gain. Never held our daughter from you, even when I hated you in vein. I never used her as a weapon, because I know what it feels like. To have a mother resent a father, based on all her own dislikes." Wow, the fact that he could have chosen, not to let their daughter see her mom. But he chose not not, because he didn't want her to see her parents hate each other. That's a real class act, and a great thing to do. The bridge, has screaming, and it's amazing. Also the instrumentals pick up speed, and it's great. "You're rotten to me, my forgotten, my no more. You're rotten to the core, my forgotten, my no more. F*** you." Sounds like he moved on. There is an outro on this track, that has lyrics. After the chorus repeats, there's this set of lyrics. "Now you're dead to me, dead to me, dead to me." Screaming them of course. The vocals on this track are also really amazing, and I feel like the metal core genre is alive and well. Which is awesome!

That's it for this review, I will see you in the next one, happy listening :)

song 150

 Song 150

Hello my fellow music nerds, the song I have for you today is freaking crazy! This artist pushes the boundaries of fitting as many genres into one song as they can. The song is Drown by Kim Dracula! Starting with the intro, it has this electronic wave sound. Bringing us into what I would call the first verse, but this song is kind of all over the place, so I could be wrong lol. "And you smiled, for the last time in my life. I hope you f******* drown. (drown, drown, drown) (Toxic)" Then there's this base drop, for this next part. "I hope you f****** drown, ooh, I'm not f******* around. (I'm not f******around) Baby, we've been helpless lately. I can't get rid of you now, I hope you f******* drown. (I hope you f******** drown) (I can't get rid of you now)" I know the subject matter is a little dark, but I think that's they're thing. Now this is where the genre changes, I'm not sure what it's called, I wanna say it's either rap or trap. I'm not sure though. All I know is that they sing really fast in this part. "Everybody, everybody, I want everybody. Everybody, everybody, I want everybody. (Don't want money, or fame, or power) (I want a lifestyle) Everybody, everybody, I want everybody. Everybody, everybody, I want everybody. Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody. (I want everybody to be like me)" Then the genre changes again! Into metalcore I think. "And I'll erase you, but I'd die to save you. (To save you) And I'll erase you." Then there's some soft "Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick." That they do. Bringing us back to the original genre, which I think is metal or rock. Somewhere along those lines, or it could be both. They would do that. Then the outro is the "I hope you f****** drown." Part of the song, there's also that electronic sound again. Then the music cuts, to where Kim just says "Drown" Like clearly, this person has a crazy voice! And a crazy mind for coming up with something like this, I don't like every song they have. Just this one, I find it cool. And if you're a musician out there, and want to challenge yourself. Go check out Kim's songs, and maybe take some inspiration from them. :)

This was fun to review, just because of how different it was. I like crazy songs, stuff that no one else thinks of doing. Which is exactly what Mx Dracula did, well done! So go check out this song, it might be exactly what you're looking for. Until next time, happy listening :)

Song 149

 Song 149

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog! Today I have another song from the band Creeper! I really like this one, because of how dynamic it is. So starting off with the intro, it sounds like the start a big movie production. Like a movie musical. Which is great, kind of like theatrical rock. I'm gonna write out all the lyrics. "You grow so tired of all the violence, of all the scarlet nights un-slept. Does anyone ever love you more than death? The darkness looming overhead, some nights you're pining for the pine box. Some nights they burn like gasoline,  I've been all the evils a man can be. But you saw a light in the dark of me." Just gonna give a little comment in between doing this, I like how this song is like a play. The soft vocals are also a nice touch. "She lays beneath my grave like a funeral wreath. And death fears us, we don't fear death. Don't you ever forget, from our first kiss to our last breath. With any heart that I have left. I will love you more than death, I will love you more than death, I will love you more than death." So romantic! "I played a teenage apparition, you played a Lorraine Warren type. And exorcised this haunted heart of mine, that this world keeps breaking all the time. No reflection in the mirror, no light behind the eyes. If I still had one, I would give my life. I wanna die for real this time." :( "She lays her grief, on my lips like a funeral wreath."  So the part after this does repeat, so I'll write out the outro. I'll see you in hell, if I don't see you before. I know that our love is cursed, and I can't find a cure. See you in hell, if I don't see you before. I know that our love is cursed, and I can't find a cure. But I will love you more than death." Such a tragic romance story, it's so beautiful. For the instrumentals in this one, there is mostly piano happening on this track. I love the vocals on this singer, like they are so passionate and you can really feel everything he is putting out. There was a comment on this song, that it sounded like something Meatloaf would sing. I totally get that vibe from this song, it kind of reminds me of Paradise by the Dashboard Light. The last part of this song, is particularly so beautiful. Just soft and pure beautiful vocals.

Please check out this track, you won't regret it I promise! Creeper had kind if been my hyperfixation for a few days, so I've found a lot of their songs that have now ended up on my playlist. Thank you to my person for getting me into this band two years ago, they are amazing, and so are you <3 Until next time my fellow music nerds, happy listening! :)

song 148

 Song 148

Hello my fellow music nerds! Welcome back to the blog! I have a bit of a different song for you today, what I mean by different is this song is a showtune. Yes this girl also loves showtunes, and musicals! One of my favourite musicals is Everybody's Talking About Jamie, it's one of my favourite movies. For some context in case you've never heard of it, the movie is about this British boy named Jamie, who dreams of being a drag queen. This is based off of a true story as well, it's a very sweet and heartfelt movie. It also makes you think, and has a really great soundtrack. So let's review Wall In My Head. Starting off with a nice slow melody, bringing us into the first section: "It was something he said, something he said. His words built a wall, a wall inside my head. Just one little thing, didn't mean that much to him. But it keeps building, and building, and building this wall in my head. This wall in my head." For some more context, this song about what his dad said when he was a child. It's never revealed in the movie what exactly he said, we kind of have to interpret it for what it is. Next section: "Just one tiny thought, it started out so small. The thought made a brick, the bricks made a wall. And the wall keeps me down, and the wall trips me up. And it keeps building, and building, and building. This wall in my head, this wall in my head." This talks about how, one sentence or one word, can stick with people for their life. And how it can build a mental and emotional wall, that blocks you from doing something. In this case, Jamie wants to be a drag queen. But he never really forgot what he was told as a child, so even though he's doing what he can to be one. There's still this thing that tells him he can't. Next section: "And here I stand with my feet, stuck to the floor. As I walk down the street, screaming for more. Over the wall, over the wall. I see my future standing tall. Over the wall, over the wall. I can believe I'd have it all." Now he's trying to push past this mental wall, and learn that he can live his dream. This part is what I would consider to be a chorus, but showtunes are kind of set up differently than other types of music. So I'm kind of guessing. But anyway, here's the next section: "So I keep climbing, and climbing, and climbing. This wall in my head, head, head. I'll keep on climbing, and climbing, and climbing. This wall in my head, head, head. This wall in my head, this wall in my head." Yeah you got this man! Next section: "It was something he said, just one little thing. The thought left a scar, the words left a sting. Those words are the walls, that still hold me in and they keep building, and building, and building, and building." Whatever his dad, said to him. I wanna give him a piece of my mind! To hurt your child like this, that is not what a parent does! A parent would love and accept you as you are, and support your dreams! Next section: "And don't fall, I'm finding my feet. There's shoes to be filled. But this wall is harder to beat, when it's one yo helped build." The impact this has had on his life, is just so awful. A little spoiler here, this is probably why Jamie's parents are divorced. Because his mum, is really supportive of him. And I think I know why his parents aren't together anymore. I'm gonna skip to this catchy part of the song, well every part is catchy. But I like how this part ties in the song. "Oh, I'll keep climbing, and climbing, and climbing, and climbing, and climbing. Hand over, hand over, hand over. Hand over, brick over. Hand over, brick over, hand over, brick over." Then there's some awesome runs, and the song ends on the last "This wall in my head." The vocals on this are also really smooth, and wonderful the actor who played Jamie (Max Harwood) is a good singer, and played this part so beautifully. The big message I got from this movie is to be unapologetically yourself, which is so true.

That's it for this review, it's such a great song and I hope you consider checking it out. As well as the movie, which you can find on Amazon Prime! I actually really enjoyed, writing a review for a showtune. I might do more in future posts! :) Until next time, happy listening :)

song 147

 Song 147

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog! You know that new song I was telling you about? Well that's the song I will be doing tonight! It's called Headstones by Creeper! I love this band, my person actually got me into this band, thank you babes! This song literally came out a few days ago, and it's amazing! I hope this means there's a new album in the works, because that would be amazing! But for now, we just have this single! So right off the bat, the intro is really good. Honestly the composition of this track is just so freaking amazing! And they did a nine minute song before, which was really good as well. I loved how complex it was. This one is a little more of a standard make up of song structure. The first verse: "Spat out of heaven, now we are all hell bound. The church of your love is still burning itself to the ground, curse on your heart, you're a stake in my chest. You're flaccid for life as I lust for your death." From that first line, I think we can see this is potentially about a vampire. (Also because the cover art is is literally of a vampire women getting an axe to the neck) The chorus: "So give us headstones, let our bones turn to the dust. The fire and the brimstone. Headstones, let our bones turn to dust in the fire and the brimstone." I really love the makeup of this chorus, it kind of resembles something from the 80s or 90s which is pretty cool. Second verse: "The temptations of evil have buried themselves in your flesh, surrender your soul to the sins of the devil's caress. You're flaccid for life as I lust for your death, now offer yourself for him to infest." Then the chorus repeats, with this pause in between the bridge/chorus. Then after the pause there's clapping with the chorus, which is always fun. It's a great way to the get crowd involved during concerts. This is just a really fun, and very creative track. Props to Creeper for making this masterpiece, and I can't wait to see more from you!

That's it for this review, I highly recommend checking this song out, and also check out the music video as well! I feel like people don't appreciate music videos anymore, so please go watch some! hehe, until next time happy listening! :)

song 146

 Song 146

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog! Today's song is One For The Radio by McFly Which are a British Pop Rock band, and I would consider this particular song to be more on the pop punk side. But regardless, let's get into it! There isn't really an intro for this song, so we're just gonna jump right into the first verse: "Here's another song for the radio. Life isn't fair for the people who care, stick your nose in the air and that's how you'll go far. So go tell your lovers, your fathers, and brothers. Your sisters and mothers how lucky they are" I don't think I'm gonna analyze this one, so we'll just focus on the musicality, and I'll comment on whatever I think is a really good part or idea. So moving on to the pre-chorus: "Light speed, out of my mind. I'm hurt, but I'll be fine. Put your fist in the air, raise your voice and declare. Singing we don't care (we don't care)" I really like the composition on this track, I like how it's set up. It has a fun tune to it. Very upbeat and kind of where that pop side comes into play. Then we move on to the chorus: "So, here's another song for the radio. And here's another line from the heart, so don't pretend you hate us then you sing along. Cause we all look the same in the dark." The heavy drums are really good, I like how the melody blends well within the other instruments. Next is the second verse: "LA temptations or music sensations, there's great expectations that weigh on our heads. So here's to the liars who dream and conspire against the admired, we hope you drop dead." Ok well that last part was a little harsh, but I'm leaving this song up to interpretation from you people, the readers. The pre-chorus actually changes a little bit after this part. I'll put those lyrics in now "And I'm hurt, but I'll be fine. Put your fist on your chest, raise your voice in protest." This is kind of reminding me of SING by MCR, encouraging people to use their voices, and be yourself unapologetically. The bridge on this track is just them repeating "We Don't Care" over and over. Kind of like a chant. So we'll just continue on, the outro and the last repeat of the chorus, is really fun. And there is some lyric changes, which I will be adding. "So don't pretend you hate us and you sing our songs." And "So don't pretend you hate us when you sing along." That is actually a great way of saying someone is being hypocritical, like you say you don't like this band or this particular genre of music. But you also are the one singing along to the songs, then that's hypocritical hun. hehe. But yeah, this track is really fun. I hope you consider checking it out.

Stay tuned for more, I have a song that's brand new, that I'm so excited to review. So keep a look out for that, and until next time happy listening! :)
