song 136

 Song 136

Welcome back to the blog! So I have another The Used song for you all today, but honestly I passed on this song before, and now I'm wondering why I did that. But I listened to it again today, and I actually really love this song. So let's get into it. The song is called Paradise Lost, a Poem by John Milton. Interesting title, considering non of these words are in the song lol. Also the cover art on this song is a little out there, it's not my idea of art. But art is subjective, so I'm sure there's some people who would like it. But that's not why we're here, we're here to talk about the song and not the cover art. I really feel like it's the intro on this song that drew me into it, there is definitely that old school 2000s sound to it with the guitar shredding. I love the heavy, chunky sounds from that time. I really love that they brought that back in this track. Then we have the first verse: "To whom it may concern, and all the tragic we've been through. No matter where I go, I keep on running into you. Blink of an eye, feels like forever. Same as it ever was, same as whatever. Before the yellow fades to blue." That line, I think is a call back to one of their earlier songs. That's cool, I love when connections are made to older projects. Next is the pre-chorus: "I'm shaken, I'm shaken, I'm shaken, I'm shaken." Which same as me, when I heard this song hehe ;) The chorus is what really makes this, and I will show you now: "Can't bring myself to cut ties, I know you better than anyone. Blessed with this curse my whole life, won't let me shake the shadow. Paradise lost in your eyes, I know you better than anyone. Blessed with this curse my whole life, won't let me shake." I think what they're saying here is maybe they're mental state isn't the greatest?  I could be wrong here, but that's how I  see it. There's no second verse in this track, which I find interesting. The bridge is also in a peculiar, spot. Where the second verse should be, is where the pre-chorus and the bridge are. Here's the bridge: "Found the key but couldn't open the cell, this selfishness was part of saving myself. From you now I hold the disease, planted the poisonous seed. Tried not to eat from the tree, will I survive? It's so hard to tell." I like that, I'm not sure why I just do. I think the point of the song, is talking about that one person who is really special. So you don't want to cut ties with them, and also like you know them better then they probably know themselves. I can relate. Then after this section of the song, we have this awesome guitar riff and drum combo which is amazing. There isn't much of an outro, it just kind of stops. And the chorus I would consider to be the outro. So yeah it's really great song, the vocals are on point, the instrumentals are also on point. Bert McCraken is amazing! And you should go check it out! Right now go!

See you next time, happy listening! :)

song 135

 Song 135

Hey everybody, my fellow music nerds, lovers, or just people looking for some new songs to enjoy. Welcome back to the blog! I have a new song by a band that I grew up with. Daughtry! Who I think does not get enough recognition or credit, that man is a phenomanal singer! For the longest time he's done mainly soft rock, but lately he's branched out into more heavier stuff. Which I am here for. This song that I am going over today is called The Day I Die. The intro is very easy listening, very good set up. Almost like an action movie soundtrack. I think there might be some violin action up in there. Bringing us into the first verse: "Haven't seen the light of day since God knows when, couldn't force a smile even if I tried. My heart is empty and my bones won't mend, feels like the river's running dry." Wow, I can feel the emotion and depth in this one. The chorus is where those freaking amazing vocals come into play. The chorus: "And I keep on dreaming of the day I die, where I escape the darkness in my own mind. It's like a mental funeral, something beautiful. I wanna stay, but I know I gotta let it go. I keep on dreaming of the day I die." I feel like this song doesn't need an analyzation, I think it speaks for itself on this one. Plus I don't wanna take away from the deep and emotional words. Second verse: "And I don't wanna wake up, melancholy creeps in like a thief in the night. Resentment tries to have its day, I know I'm just another dog in their fight. Feeding on the scraps of my mistakes." Really beautiful. The bridge on this one, doesn't have any new lyrics but I'm still gonna put it in. "And I don't wanna wake up, and I don't wanna wake up, yeah. And I don't wanna wake up, yeah. Oh, I'm dreaming, keep on dreaming. I keep on dreaming, I keep on dreaming, yeah." I'm serious you all need to listen to this song, it's so freaking good. Please do yourself a favor, and go listen to it right now!

See you next time :)

song 134

 Song 134

Hello my fellow music lovers, welcome back to the blog! We have a new release from a band that I love so of course I'm going to review it. The song I have for you today is Skinny Lies by The Funeral Portrait. I actually really liked when I first listened to it, and I hope you will too. The intro is very cool, it has this really great deep scratchy sound to it. I saw the genre theatrical rock, and I feel like that is the best way to describe this band's sound. The first verse: "You're chasing shadows in the sky, with all the vampires. Biting into all the stars still left alive. Lips of velvet but your tongue is like a chainsaw. What is left to say, that I haven't said?" Love the song writing on this. The chorus: "If I'm not what you need, then I don't wanna know. But the words in your mouth cut right to the bone, I wanna go back to what it was before. Just you and I, and skinny lies." I think skinny lies, means very thin on the surface lies. Like the person knew they were lying the whole time. The chorus is also very catchy, very good to song along with. The second verse: "Do you really wanna get what you wish for? Did you forget that we're all human after all, don't look at me and lick your teeth like I'm your savior. Baby, just bite down." There is an idea that we get as humans, where we think we need to save people. But not everyone wants to be saved, or needs saving. Although I will say, I was saved from myself by someone very special to me. So sometimes it does work, but everyone is different. Just don't let that thought of saving someone, get in the way of everything else. The bridge: "It's like you never knew me, or maybe I don't know myself. And when you look right through me, all you'll find are skinny lies. Look at what we've done, threw our secrets out into the sun. There ain't no time, just you and I, and skinny lies." I don't really have anything to comment on here, it's just really well done. There's so outro, the song just ends on a  line. But it's still really good.

That's it for this one, see you next time :)

song 133

 Song 133

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog! This is probably the weirdest review I've ever done, because there isn't a lot of information on this song, or band. I'm not even sure if it was produced by real people, but I still really liked it. I mean it sounds like an actual person singing on this song, there is a name on the cover art. Jason Razon, so maybe they do the producing as well as write the songs? I don't know. Maybe their the one doing the singing? They don't seem to have an insta account, so I'm not sure about a lot of these things. I came across this song just by putting my Youtube music on auto play, and I thought it was cool. The band is called Vamfyre, I guess they're still pretty new. Because a lot of the songs by them are from either last year or this year. The song is called Hollow Heart. They are also on Spotify, so you can find them on there. I'll just get into it, hopefully this is by a real person. I think it is, when you go to the song on Spotify the Jason Razon name shows up and says they're the composer/lyricist.  Any way back to the song. There is no visible lyrics for this song, so I'm just gonna do this by ear. There's no intro, it kind of just jumps right into the first verse: "One of us lost control, left while my heart turned cold. Would you stand or walk away? Leave me here to decay. What of I lost control, left while my heart turned cold. Would you stand or walk away, leave me here to decay. What if I hit the floor, scream I can't take anymore. Would you care or let me fall? Watch me break, and lose it all." I hope I was able to make out these words right, but this is what I heard. I like the use the of instruments on this track. They all blend really well together. The chorus: "Come on tear me apart, rip the life from my heart. I'm done, I'm done with you. Stare into my eyes, feel the truth behind my lies. All I wanted was you." Then there's this instrumental guitar and drum moment going on, very cool I like that. Second verse: "I tried to make a smile but it burned me, all the while. Now I know this is me, a mess you'll never set free. You said you needed more, so what are you waiting for? Now I'm running, take your shot. You're the last good thing I got." I love that line. There is a little bridge on this: "What if I fell apart, would you break my hollow heart? I'm here I'm not afraid so end me now, let me fade." Actually the bridge was the outro, but that's okay. I like that, so hopefully this person just isn't that popular yet, and that's why there isn't a lot of info yet. Either way, I think it's a good song. So far you can check out this person's music on Youtube music, and Spotify. I actually really loved the song writing on this track, as well as the set up. This song was specified as Emo rock, but they have other sub genres as well. Including vampire metal, metal, alt rock, and rock. So go check it out, and I hope just by listening by ear I made the lyrics make sense lol.

That's it for this review, see you next time. Happy listening my fellow music nerds :)

Song 132

 Song 132

Hello everybody, welcome back to the blog. I was supposed to be away on vacation this week, but the trip was cancelled. Which is actually a relief for me, travelling stresses me out. Plus it means I get to write another review for you wonderful people! The song I have today is Casanova (C'est La Vie) by The Funeral Portrait! I know I just did one of their songs, but I had to share this one. It's so good, I feel like these guys should be more popular. They're really good. Ok, on with the song. Starting off with the intro, it's very good. Has a great beat to it. Very nice set up for the first verse. Which is coming in now! First verse: "I'd rather bury you alive than bear the burden that you keep, cause you're a poison in my veins. I'll never say surrender, I'd rather be somebody else than play the victim in the end. How can I miss you if you never seem to leave? My dying dear (my dying dear) But I will stay right here." I like how when the verse starts, it's slow. But then the vocals pick up in decibels, easing us into the chorus. Coming in now! The chorus: "C'est la vie c'est la vie, love had other plans for me. So I locked my heart inside a box and threw away the key. I'm in love with a make believe (make believe) There's a special place in hell, for all the broken hearts like me." I like the song writing on this one, and the melody of the chorus is very catchy. It hooks you in. And in case you don't know what c'est la vie means. It's French for "That's life." The second verse: "At least I'm not chewing on my teeth, under the maggots and the dirt. You f******* liar, left alone. Twenty five familiar names I've met before, there's a history here of what's in store. How did you think that this would end? You're lying to yourself again. What good could ever come from toying with the heart of someone positively dangerous like me? The opposite of love is apathy." That's a bit of a long verse, but a lot was said. I think what they're trying to say is, be careful who you hurt. You don't know what they're capable of. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it. The bridge: "I'm not a man, or a machine. I'm just a finger on the pulse of lucid dreams. I'd rather bury you alive than put a bullet in your chest and watch you die." That seems like a lose, lose situation there. I mean what's worse? Being buried alive, or being shot at? But maybe the second one would be painful for him to watch? I'm not sure. Now this next part, I can't really classify it. So I'm jut gonna put it up, because there's different lyrics in this section. "I can finally tell the truth, and how I really feel. The world is better off without you in it. Beg for air, now that's the spirit." That part is actually kind of dark, like dude don't end their life! The outro, has the chorus switching up some of the lyrics. Bringing the story to an end. Here is how it goes: "C'est la vie, c'est la vie. It was just not meant to be, now she's choking on her words just six feet underneath." So looks like, he did end up burying her alive in the end. But what a journey this song was! There's also an instrumental part of the outro, leading us out of the song. Disclosure: the song is off their EP called For The Dearly Departed. Which came out in 2014, so these guys have around for a bit. I just think they need more recognition.

That wraps up this review, I will see you all in the next one! :)

song 131

 Song 131

Welcome back to the blog! I've got another one for you! I won't be able to write one next week, because I'll be on vacation. Until I get back, I hope you enjoy this one! The song today is You're So Ugly When You Cry by The Funeral Portrait ft. Bert McCracken from The Used! I honestly think this was a great collab, their voices work so well together. The intro for this, has the chorus in it. So you know the drill, we'll begin with the first verse: "Everybody wants to be a martyr, and everybody wants to know their father. Loves their precious son. (4, 3, 2, 1) Everybody wants a happy ending, anything to keep pretending. You hurt yourself for fun, cherubim and therapists. They build your chains the same." Not much to comment on here, so I'll let you do that. The chorus: "How can I change my life, when I only wanna die. You couldn't love me if you tried, you're so ugly when you cry. So bury, me deep. Cause all the world around me is so ugly." I really like how relatable this song is, especially for these times. The world is a pretty dark place right now, but that shouldn't discourage us from trying to make it better. Second verse: "Does anybody really wanna live forever? Ask me when the party's over, aren't you having fun? (Aren't you having fun) And everybody wants a happy ending, no more tears the world is ending. And all the kids do drugs, maybe we were always meant to. Hurt the ones we love." Ooh that verse is a real thinker, that last line cuts deep. I personally don't want to hurt the ones I love, it doesn't feel good. There isn't really a bridge in this song, I guess the "bridge" would be when it slows down, on the third repeat of the chorus. But there's no new lyrics. I love the vibe of the instruments on this one, they're awesomely edgy. Which is very fitting for the context of this song. There's this really cool scratchy sound right before the slow down, I love that. I also think there's some shredding on this track, which I absolutely love! The high pitch shred/strum of an electric is just pure perfection! There isn't really an outro on this track, which is fine. Not every song is going to have one, just how not every song has a bridge.

That is it for this review, I hope you consider checking it out. I will see you, when I get back from my trip :)

Song 130

 Song 130

Here we are song 130! Welcome back to the blog, I literally just found this song today. But it really deserves a review! So let's get into it! The song is Nose Bleed by Stand Atlantic & Sueco, yet another band that my person got me into! (The first song they ever sent me was from this band!) (Thank you R <3 The intro has the chorus in it, so I'll just skip to the first verse, than go on with the chorus. First verse: "Get mad on Monday, don't talk on Tuesday. Then wake up on Wednesday, Throw-up on Thursday. F*** on Friday, and now I'm brain dead. Rinsed and defeated, numb to the bleeding. Sugar-coated hunting season." I like the lyrics, just not sure what is being implied here yet. The pre-chorus: "So this is what you get? For messing with my head, don't wanna end up dead (dead) Six feet in the ground, so this is what you get? (This is what you get?)" Okay, now we have some more context. The chorus: "I'd rather be lonely and hate myself, than someone you think about. I got a nosebleed, if you want me dead. Twist the knife while you watch me bleed out. I don't wanna be someone you think about. I got a nosebleed, if you want me dead. Twist the knife while you watch me bleed out." I know it's a little violent, but amazing song writing. I love angsty songs, they feed my soul. It seems like they think someone has it out for them, maybe from a past experience. The second verse is where Sueco comes in, I like his voice. Second verse: "Manic on Monday, you take me down on Tuesday. I'm wired on Wednesday, through to Thursday. Same old Friday. Girl you got me fiending, I can still see red. Cause I'm in pieces, barely breathing, by the weekend. (by the weekend, I'm in pieces)" It seems like this person they're talking about, really did a number on them. The bridge: "So this is what I get? I let you mess with my head, am I gonna end up dead? Six feet in the ground. So this is what I get (this is what I get)" I actually like the softer edge on the instruments, they're not really hard or heavy with the bass. I think it fits this really well. There's obviously still drums, but it works. Then the chorus repeats, and the melody is pretty consistent throughout the song. I think on the bridge it slows down a bit, but other than that, it's pretty much the same. The outro has the melody fading out, a little bit. And the last line of the song, which is "Twist the knife while you watch me bleed out." A very good song, I'm so happy I came across it.

Well that's it for this review, I highly recommend you check it out. So what are you waiting for? Go listen to it right now! Hehe ;) See you next time!

song 129

 Song 129

Hello my fellow music nerds! Welcome back to the blog, I hope you're all having a good week! I have a new one for you today! I can't remember if I had reviewed a song from You Me At Six before, but that's the band I'm reviewing a song from today! Causally recommended to me from my person! (Thank you R! <3) The song is Deep Cuts! I actually really like this song. The intro is really interesting because it has this electronic echo thing going on. Then it comes in with the strumming, only it's a unique strum pattern. Leading us into the first verse: "Yeah, it's true, I don't know how it feels. But tell me, did you take the red or blue pill? A finger on the trigger is a crutch. Time to press eject, it's a feeling in your gut." I'm not gonna analyze this one, so I'm just gonna write these as they come. I will make a comment on the lyrics though. The pre-chorus: "It's a heartache in the making, it's half past lonely. Dead beat promises, for your eyes only. Eyes wide shut, you're all grown up." I just like it hehe :) The chorus: "And oh, death by a thousand cuts. A lover's touch hurts twice as much. A flesh wound got you all torn up. And I don't want you to live like this forever, and I don't want you thinking you can't do better. You're upside down, and you're inside out. And I know that you would be better, better off alone." I like the melody with this chorus, it's very cool. Also good song writing, I always appreciate that. Second verse: "He's got the legion, it's speaking, a language I ain't feeling. Caesar, the palace, ODed on wrecking havoc. Stroke of genius, it's seamless, the man's an extremist." This part of the song has an almost speaking part to it, only it's still in song form. (Just a heads up, I'm not very good at describing things lol) The bridge: "And I, I know. You've got deep cuts (you've got) People tell you to move on (I, I know) Still holding on to what you know is gone. (You've got) An alibi, another chance to lie. (Deep cuts) Caught with tears in your eyes. No more time for sad songs (I, I know) In all black, no funerals (you've got) Plastic flowers for vacant souls (deep cuts) Jealousy's a fatal dose." The brackets are the backing vocals, which always add that extra layer of musicality on songs. I like how the vocals gradually become heavier as the bridge goes on. That's really cool. Then the chorus repeats again, and the outro is just some echoing backing vocals as they fade out.

I really like this song, and I hope you will too :) See you in the next one!

song 128

 Song 128

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog. Today's song is Silver Bullet by I Fight Dragons. Another band that my person got me into <3 I like this one because of the slow pace of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a rock girl. I love fast paced hard chords, and thrash sounding music. But I also love slow, romantic songs as well. Now for this song intro, they have part of the chorus. "Bullets made of silver and, bullets made of porcelain. There's no way to know what's in your hands, until the bang." This brings us into the first verse: "Take a breath and take a look around, nowhere left to run and no time left now. Stand your ground. Took a lifetime just to get right here, in a moment everything comes down to you. Choose truth or fear." I like what they're saying here. How the decisions we make is ultimately up to you. The chorus: "Bullets made of silver and, bullets made of porcelain. There's no way to know what's in your hands, until the bang. Maybe I'll be powerful, maybe I'm delusional. Maybe there's no way to know for sure, so take a stand. Ready, aim, fire, and." I think I am delusional, just a little bit.  Anyway, back to the song. Second verse: "Does she love you, does she love you not? Can a risk be worth might be lost in, the best intentions? Do or die, sneaks up on all of us. Time to fly or time to face the cost now, once and for all." I still think it's worth the risk for us. Then the chorus repeats again. Just really love the use of the acoustic guitar on this one. There's also drums, and a little strumming from the electric as well.

That's it for this one, see you in the next one.

Song 127

 Song 127

I have another AFI song to review today, also they are releasing a new album this year! My person and I are both really excited about it! But for now the song I am reviewing today is called Carcinogen Crush! It's really good. The intro hooks you in immediately, and is really nice. I freaking love riffs and drum beats thrown together. Another song that is hard to break up into sections. So I'll just write out all the lyrics. "Speechless, read the words between your lines.  In isolation, silence separates of what design? I heard you speak, words I know you didn't write. But I believe you, believe them. Cause you spoke them again, in my dreams last night. I swear to you, I'm not the one. I swear so I'll become, your only desire. Take a bow, you've performed exquisitely. Through the millions scream, I know you'll see. Each subtlety's understood by me, I, I would be as devout. As the high school sweetheart, that I never had, I s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-swear! I swear to you, I'm not the one. I swear so I'll become, your only. So if you are confined to me, I swear that you will be. So lonely (dreaming) Airs of grace, your airs of grace will fill me. Airs of grace, your airs of grace will fill me. Airs of grace, your airs of grace will fill me. Airs of grace, your airs of grace just kill me. Oh! I swear to you, I'm not the one. I swear so I'll become, your only. So if you are confined to me, I swear you will be. So lonely (dream-like) Dream-like. Dream-like." Okay, so the part about high school sweetheart. I can totally relate to that, I never had one of those. Dating wasn't really something that interested me when I was a teen, crushes have always been weird for me. They are either super intense, or non existent, or it's just infatuation. There is someone I've been crushing on someone since the day I met them, I'm literally so freaking in love with them. Anyway, back to the song. I think this song is about wanting and not wanting at the same time. Which is kind of confusing. But I still really like this song, and again I feel like AFI is so underrated.

So go check them out, they are awesome. Listen to this song, and others of theirs. I promise you won't be disappointed. That's it for this review, I will see you in the next one :)

song 126

 Song 126

Hello! Welcome back to the blog! Our house lost power for almost three days, so that was crazy. But we got it back! I can write again, and I have a new song for you all! But first, I have been really happy lately. I was depressed for a long time, part of it was due to seasonal depression. But also just struggling in general, now I am genuinely happy. I would elaborate more, but I don't want to make things too public. So let's just continue on with the review, the song I picked today is Born Cold by Creeper. Another really iconic song, musically and vocally. My person actually introduced me to this band as well, thank you R <3 I have reviewed two of their songs before. This one is really fun, it almost sounds like something from the ninety's. There isn't really an intro with this one, so we'll jump right into the first verse: "I was born cold, so much colder than you. A transparent brute, a black heart you see right through. You're all spirit, all auburn and morning. I'm the smoker's health, the hang man hangs himself." The song writing in these is so deep and and amazing, I absolutely love it. The chorus: "Do I look so good, that you wanna treat me bad? We sleep together, me and you. Because we've nothing else to do." I'm not really sure how to decipher this one, but I really like the melody on this part of the song. Second verse: "Midnight and back in luck, on the hood of your father's truck. Fall fast and feel the devil at the wheel." The vocals on the first part of this line, are *chef's kiss* just perfection. The bridge on this song is really good as well: "Try to feel, try to feel anything. Pretty boys, pretty girls, petty promise rings. Die young and swoon, let's both be doomed together. Try to feel, try to feel anything. (I was born cold) Pretty boys, pretty girls, petty promise rings (so much colder than you) Die young and swoon, let's both be doomed together." Than it repeats a third time. The part in brackets is the backing vocals. As the bridge repeats, the more the key goes up in range. That really adds to the vocals. My only critique on this track is how it ends, like it doesn't finish the sentence. "We sleep together, me and you. Because we have nothing else." That's how it ends?! Like at least finish the sentence! Lol other than that, it's a great track.

That's it for this one, see you next time :)
